Sonny92 Tervahäät have created a beautifully simple, yet hauntingly atmospheric Dark Folk album that perfectly evokes the spirit of the albums cover. If you like to get away from it all (even if only in your own mind) then you could do much worse than giving this a listen.

hallowedground777 An atmospheric and cinematic soundscape that is a melancholic masterpiece blending folk/tribal and ambient sounds
Another amazing album found care of a Nordvis subscription Favorite track: Menneet.
The Great Deceiver
The Great Deceiver thumbnail
The Great Deceiver Don't let the tags fool you, there's not really a lot of metal on this record just a few atmospheric guitars, but no tremolo runs, blastbeats, or harsh vocals. What there is a lot of, however, is extremely well realized atmosphere. Plucked acoustics, spoken vocals, and clattering percussion all come together to create a desolate, melancholy masterpiece. Favorite track: Menneet.

If Tervahäät’s self-titled debut would be a soundtrack, it would be the soundtrack to an old cabin life settled in the solitary of wilderness. It would be the soundtrack to a lonely campfire lit next to a thousand Saivo lakes. It would be the soundtrack to an arctic pilgrimage over the vast planes of the endless north. Tervahäät IS the soundtrack of the wild within us, the longing for becoming one with nature and to be reborn in the purity of its primitive grace. Bound to the earth, drifting the wind, flaring the fire and roaming the water.

The Finns honored the bear by eating its flesh and thus absorbed their power while the bones where carefully buried. This is not far from the way Tervahäät presents their thoughts with their magical tunes, reflecting the spirits of their dead ancestors and worshipping the great Finnish men of old. Spin the LP and look up to the stars.
